The former home of the BBC in Leeds is tuning in to a bright new future as part of Leeds Metropolitan University's campus with Ellmore licensed to carry out the £1.3m million refurbishment project.
Leeds landmark Broadcasting House on Woodhouse Lane was home to the media corporation for over 30 years and is a listed building that dates back to the late 19th Century. It was originally built as a Friends Meeting House.
The six month long refurbishment will transform the building into an additional resource for Leeds Met's Faculty of Arts & Society as well as providing meeting places and bases for many organisations and initiatives.
Steve Ellmore commented: "This is another landmark contract and follows on from recent major projects that we've started at Sheffield Cathedral and the National Railway Museum.
"The task here is a complex one with many conservation issues to bear in mind given the building's historic place within Leeds' architectural heritage," added Steve.
